Only 30 visual artist exhibiting spaces left for this year's event. If you still want in, join us on Wednesday, March 18th 7-9pm 201 Morris St (Next to Maumee Bay Brewing Company in Toledo) to pick your space.

Bring your one time $30 registration fee, calendar to sign-up for volunteer hours, and cameras and tape measures to prepare for your planning.

If you have not installed your art by April 5, 9:00 pm, your space will be allocated to someone else. No refunds.

Installation "Rules"
The main reason for the rules is that we will be occupying an older building. This is to ensure that this historic building remains healthy while we are in it.

- If you need to hang something from the ceiling, talk to a steering committee member first. Many of the ceilings are very high, so we will need to use the proper equipment and exercise the utmost safety when accessing the ceilings. A plan for hanging needs to be approved by a steering committee member to ensure the building itself or the flow through the space is not compromised.

- Do not hang anything from pipes or existing wires. It is illegal.

- You will have access to the Morris Street garage door entrance and the Ottawa Street entrances for unloading. Once you have unloaded, please move your car to the street.

- Do NOT paint the floors.

- You may hammer into or drill into the walls. However, do not drill so far through the walls that you drill right into someone else's artwork. Be mindful of electrical wires in the walls.

Can I paint my space?
For walls with wood paneling, NO painting is allowed
For masonry walls, paint is allowed
For the side room leading to gravel lot, paint is NOT allowed on gray brick walls.
For walls with drywall, paint is allowed.
For wood walled room in performance space, paint is allowed.
For spaces in performance areas, all work must be hung above 6 feet.
For plaster and cork walls, lighter artworks are recommended due to the questionable structural integrity of the material. Paint is NOT allowed.

- You may use the electric sockets that are in your space. DO NOT make more sockets available than are already there. Use what you have, not some mini-network of extension cords. If you rig up a mini-network, do not be surprised to find it unplugged or removed next time you come around. Remember this is an old building. We are fortunate to have lots of spaces with access to electrical outlets and the potential for good lighting.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why $30?
Just like you have to pay your bills at home, we have to pay the bills here. This is 100% invested into Artomatic419, helping to fund utilities, advertising for the event, building supplies, etc. No one is getting paid here.

What type of space do I get?
Spaces have been divided into 10-foot spaces. Some spaces may be smaller and some may be larger depending on the room. We expect over 200 visual artists to be participating this year.

I need a cigarette!
There is NO smoking inside the building. Please do not just step outside the doors and smoke there. Look for the official designated smoking zone outside.

Who is in charge?
We all are. There is no paid staff for Artomatic419. An Executive Committee, Steering Committee, and several Sub-committees have been meeting since August 2008 to plan Artomatic419 and have established the basic parameters for Artomatic419. However, this event will only be successful if we all take responsibility and all take charge to ensure a safe and fun time for all.

If you have further questions as we go along, please contact us.
