Visual Artists: Your Exhibition

The Exhibit
Being at your space during the exhibit serves several functions: welcoming the public and your friends; deepening the viewer's experience of the work; and making connections between the artists and the community.
- Specify the community connections for your exhibition. Invite key people from local businesses, organizations, academic departments, research centers, and friends to attend the reception. Consider inviting key people from who share an interest in art or the topic of the exhibition. You may even ask one or two of them to contribute a quote to your exhibition statement (but give them plenty of time to do so).
- Invitation: Artomatic 419 Lite will provide postcards closer to the event with important date and time information about the exhibition. Or, you may want to design an eye-catching e-vite or postcard for your own mailing list. Just remember to acknowledge Artomatic 419 Lite!
- Your mailing list can include your friends, members of your organizations, anyone who has purchased your work, and so forth.

Show Over: After the Exhibition Closes
Take down your show on the day assigned and remove all hooks, nails and other fasteners. Return any tools you've borrowed.
- Let the location managers know that you are done and have restored the space to its original condition.
- Read your guest book! It's a great way to get honest audience feedback. Be sure to enter names and addresses into your mailing list.
- Document the process: You may find it helpful to keep a binder with copies of your budget, receipts for expenses, copies of all promotional materials, emails, letters.
