| Event Background
Last year the Arts Commission of Greater Toledo (ACGT) asked what artists wanted to see in the arts community. The answer: networking, access to spaces, opportunities for professional development, and connections to other creative people. Coming this fall: Artomatic 419! This September, during the first four (4) Saturdays, the Arts & Entertainment district of Uptown Toledo will be inundated with art & performance! One building—located at 1717 Adams Street, Toledo; Click here for a map—will serve as the epicenter of activity, with a huge non-juried multi-discipline art show on display and multimedia performance events over the entire month. Artomatic is an organic arts experience. It is community-based and artist organized. The show will thrive based on the enthusiasm and hard work of its participants! All art sales will be commission-free and handled by the artists. Artomatic 419 will provide opportunities for learning and development. Workshops, lectures, and panel discussions will cover topics from arts marketing to grant writing and portfolio development. A grass-roots steering committee comprised of local creatives, arts administrators and community activists is working to ensure the broadest possible community representation among participants.
